After being spotted together near New York’s City Hall on Wednesday, designer Michael Kors and his longtime boyfriend Lance LePere have confirmed that they are getting married!
Life & Style broke the news when a tipster spotted the two getting their marriage license. Women’s Wear Daily talked to Kors shortly thereafter, and reported that the couple, who fell in love shortly after LaPere started working as an intern for Kors in the early 1990s, will wed in a private ceremony.
“Lance and I are very excited to finally be able to have the opportunity to marry in our home state after many years together,” said Kors. “We have no plans for a major party, but we will be getting married privately.”
So while we’re not likely to see any photos of the joyous occasion, we’re no less happy for them. The two will join hundreds of couples who have legally tied the knot in New York after Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a bill allow gay men and lesbians to marry. The law went into effect on July 24.
But as new as their right to marry is, their relationship has lasted over 20 years. Here’s to another 20, and then some!
